This Privacy Policy describes how CueNav ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our web service and Android application distributed through Google Play (together, the "Service").

Google Play and the Android App

This policy should be read together with the Data safety disclosure on CueNav's Google Play store listing. We keep that disclosure updated to reflect the actual data practices of the app and the third-party software and services we use.

When you use the Android app, the following data categories may be transmitted from your device to our servers or service providers:

  • Personal information: Email address, name, display name, username, and optional profile photo
  • User content: Audio files you upload; song, setlist, section, cue, chord, and lyrics information; comments; and content you share with a team
  • App activity: Screens or pages viewed, feature interactions, session data, and usage statistics
  • Device or other identifiers and technical data: Browser and device type, operating system, app or client identifiers, IP address, error/security logs, and approximate location inferred from the IP address by analytics providers

An email address or basic account information from your chosen social sign-in provider is required to create an account. Profile photos, audio files, and other content you create are optional and are processed only when you use the relevant feature. We do not sell data or share it for behavioral advertising. Standard encryption such as HTTPS/TLS is used in transit.

Google Play may independently process Google account, device, installation, update, and diagnostic data for app distribution and store security. That processing is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account information: Name, email address, password
  • Profile information: Display name, profile picture
  • Content: Songs, setlists, cues, and other content you create

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: How you interact with our service
  • Device information: Browser type, operating system, device or client identifiers, and approximate location
  • Log data: IP address, access times, pages viewed

Social Sign-In Information

If you choose to sign in with Google or GitHub, we may receive your email address, name, profile photo, and a provider-specific account identifier to create your account and sign you in securely. We do not receive your Google or GitHub password. You can revoke the connection in your provider's account settings; revoking it does not by itself delete your CueNav account or data stored by CueNav.

Audio You Upload

Audio files you upload to CueNav are stored against your account. They are served only to you and to team members you explicitly share them with. They never appear in any public catalogue, stream, or discovery feature.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services
  • Process transactions and send related information
  • Send you technical notices and support messages
  • Respond to your comments and questions
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience

Automatic Song Analysis

Recordings you upload are processed automatically on our servers for the sole purpose of giving you section (verse, chorus, bridge) and cue suggestions. The results of that processing are shown only to you. Temporary files created during analysis are deleted as soon as it completes.

Model Improvement (Optional)

To improve our analysis model, and only with your explicit consent (which you can switch on or off at any time under Settings → CueNav):

  • Your correction labels (section names, times, cue types) and the song's acoustic fingerprint are collected anonymously.
  • Your audio — and anything derived from it — is never copied for training purposes.
  • Contributions are stored under an anonymous identifier that cannot be traced back to you.
  • Withdrawing consent deletes your previous contributions.

If you do not give consent, nothing is collected, and this does not affect any other feature of the service.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data based on:

  • Contract: To fulfill our obligations under our Terms of Service
  • Legitimate interests: To improve and secure our services
  • Consent: For marketing communications (when applicable)
  • Legal obligation: To comply with applicable laws

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. We will retain and use your information as necessary to:

  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Resolve disputes
  • Enforce our agreements

When a deletion request is completed, account data and content that can be linked to your account are deleted from active systems or irreversibly anonymized. Limited records that must be retained for legal obligations, fraud and abuse prevention, security, or dispute resolution are kept only for those purposes and only as long as necessary. Backup copies may remain access-restricted until overwritten through the normal backup cycle.

Account and Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your CueNav account and the data associated with it as follows:

  • On the web: Open cuenav.com/delete.
  • In the app: After signing in, go to Settings → Account → Delete account.
  • By email: If you cannot access the app, use the email process below.
  1. From your registered email address, email contact@cuenav.com with the subject "CueNav Account Deletion Request."
  2. Include only the email address associated with your account. Do not send your password or other sensitive authentication information.
  3. If necessary, we will send a verification message to your registered address. After verification, we will complete the request as soon as reasonably possible and no later than 30 days.

Deletion covers your authentication account, profile and profile photo, uploaded audio, songs, setlists, cues, chords, lyrics, comments, team memberships, notifications, analysis results, and other app data that can be linked to your account. Limited records that must be retained by law or for security remain subject to the retention terms above.

You can also delete individual songs, audio, setlists, profile photos, and other supported content without closing your account by using the relevant in-app deletion controls. Uninstalling the app or revoking Google/GitHub access does not automatically delete your CueNav account or server-side data.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you logged in
  • Remember your preferences
  • Understand how you use our service
  • Provide analytics

Google Analytics may use first-party cookies such as `_ga` or similar client identifiers to distinguish users and sessions and, in its default configuration, may process session statistics, approximate location, and browser/device information. Vercel Analytics processes page views and basic technical data to provide aggregate statistics. You can control cookies through your browser or device settings; blocking essential session technologies may prevent some account features from working.

7. Third-Party Service Providers

We disclose data to the following service providers only as necessary to provide the Service:

  • Supabase: Authentication, database, and file storage (privacy notice)
  • Vercel: Application hosting, security logs, and aggregate web analytics (privacy notice)
  • Google: Optional Google sign-in, Google Analytics, and app distribution through Google Play (privacy notice)
  • GitHub: Optional GitHub sign-in (privacy notice)

These providers may process data as processors providing services to us or, in limited cases described in their terms, as independent controllers. We may also disclose data to team members you expressly choose or to competent authorities when legally required.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.

9. Your Rights

10. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in some jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
